Courier Service Supervisor

Job Introduction

The Courier service Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring that the day to day operations of the service run smoothly. They ensure that services are delivered against Service level agreements (SLA’s) within NHS environments

Role Responsibility

Planning of rotas to ensure continuity of the service to include efficient allocation of annual leave and training days managing absence via relief staff
Be the first line manager for drivers and admin
To review courier route data to ensure that collections and deliveries are completed according to specification requirements
To audit vehicles to certify that they are maintained in a roadworthy condition
First line management for performance development reviews and return to work interviews
To deliver training in line with Sodexo’s annual plan, risk assessments, safe systems of work and training identified in PDR’s
Investigation of accidents, near misses and complaints
Undertake operational duties as per Courier Services Driver job description, as required
To go out on the route to assess performance and best practice
Demonstrate regular communications with your team
Provide statistics on training route compliance and customer feedback
Support with the upkeep and maintenance of health and safety folders and notice boards
To ensure vehicles are maintained and clean for service
Any other reasonable request as determined by your line manager

The Ideal Candidate

Good knowledge of labour supervision to enable service delivery within labour budget
Proven experience of supervising a team
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to relate to staff and customers at all levels

Essential

Class C Driving Licence
Experience of supervising and training a team
Computer Skills

Desirable

Understanding of courier services
Health & Safety Certification

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Courier Service Supervisor based in Peterborough. The successful candidate will be managing a team of 14 Courier Drivers and 1 Administrator, who provide a Courier Service to the NHS across Cambridgeshire.

Management experience is essential and you must hold a Class C Driving Licence. Duties will include staff training, performance management, completing staff schedules and insuring the compliance of scheduled routes.

Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by employer.
