Copy Writer (Marketing)

Job Introduction

Our Brand & Communications team is investing in the development of a new Creative Content Hub enabling us to centralise the development of all region, brand and segment content and campaigns. This is being developed in collaboration with our Marketing colleagues.

We’re looking for a Marketing Copywriter (on a temp to perm basis) who’ll be responsible for content creation across digital platforms and print, working across marketing, sales, comms and content to be distributed via varied channels / partners – predominantly through creative writing.

To be successful in this role you’ll be able to create high-quality written content that produces brand engagement, delivers commercial performance and leads within set deadlines. This will include repurposing and leveraging existing content to create ‘new’ content for internal clients and being able to act as the go-to for brand tone of voice, expert advice and support for colleagues and key stakeholders.

You’ll have great attention to detail and be able to perform background research, be highly collaborative and work closely with comms and marketing teams to develop ideas and be totally tech savvy and produce content for Search Engine Optimisation.

This is a great opportunity for a creative, ambitious and career driven Copywriter to join a growing inhouse Creative team. You’ll work across a varied range of media and channels in different industry sectors and be able to showcase your highly engaging copy writing capabilities.

This role will be based in our Salford Creative Hub with hybrid working available. Your initial contract would be for 12 months with a view to making the role permanent afterwards.

Role Responsibility

Creative solutions

  • Be an all-round, cross-channel writer able to produce highly-engaging content for both digital and print publications.
  • Work with project leads across the region to deliver high-quality content, discussing requirements, understanding target audiences and outcomes, and considering different options
  • Work across different media such as social media, editorial and articles, case studies, landing pages, campaigns and presentations
  • Recognise potential content gaps or opportunities for progression
  • Deliver a consistent experience in line with wider project objectives

Project administration

  • Manage (internal) customer satisfaction process for projects delivered and follow-up where applicable
  • Ensure time spent and any costs incurred are accurately recorded ahead of month-end financial reporting
  • Work closely with Creative Lead to ensure output is subject to quality control (‘second eyes’) before sharing with clients

Brand guardian

  • Be a brand guardian for tone of voice across the region
  • Provide expert advice and guidance for colleagues and key stakeholders
  • Provide effective professional challenge, guidance and support to non-compliance across the business

The Ideal Candidate

What’s essential

  • Excellent copywriting skills with proven experience of creative and campaign writing
  • Creative thinker with exceptional attention-to-detail with experience in a similar or comparable role
  • The ability to craft content in different tones of voice across different industries
  • Strong collaborator. Effective communicator, approachable individual with good stakeholder/client management skills 
  • Proven experience of creating engaging content that connects with its target audience
  • The ability to assist with developing content strategies
  • Has the versatility to effectively create different content for social media, editorial and articles, case studies, service pages, conversion-focused landing pages, campaigns and presentations
  • Knowledge of writing titles and short intros to increase engagement and click-through rates
  • An understanding of the production/creative content process
  • Confident, calm and reassuring presence, unfazed by tight deadlines and conflicting priorities

Where we can be flexible:

  • Experience specifically writing marketing copy
  • Experience of working in a creative, PR or communications agency or in-house environment
  • Experience supporting either a new business start-up or an organization with growth aspirations
  • Degree or higher education content related qualification such as English, Creative Writing or similar
  • Knowledge of press and PR management
  • Knowledge of inbound marketing and experience writing SEO-driven content
  • Appreciation and aspiration for good design and creative work

Remuneration: c.£28,000 per annum plus benefits and bonus
