Chef (Part-Time)Hourly Rate: €15.50Location: Sisters of Mercy, Cork

We are currently seeking a part-time Chef to join our catering team at the Sisters of Mercy in Cork. This role offers a fixed schedule with competitive pay and the opportunity to work in a supportive, team-focused environment.

Working Hours

  • Week 1: 12 hours over 2 days (Monday & Thursday)

  • Week 2: 18 hours over 3 days (Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday)

Job Description

Position: Cook
Reporting to: House Manager
Liaising with: Catering staff, clients, customers, and delivery personnel

As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and producing food to a high standard in a hygienic and safe manner. You will help deliver a friendly and welcoming service while upholding the company’s and client’s expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, present, and serve meals promptly to the required standard.

  • Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness in line with HACCP and safety guidelines.

  • Organise and maintain clean kitchen and storage areas.

  • Follow scheduled cleaning tasks and maintain equipment properly.

  • Ensure all meals are cooked to the correct temperature and recorded accurately.

  • Serve soup and assist with main course and dessert during mealtimes.

  • Label and store food correctly using allergen guidelines and procedures.

  • Report any health and safety risks or incidents immediately.

  • Complete end-of-day procedures and prepare for the next day’s operations.

  • Wear full Sodexo uniform and follow all hygiene and chemical safety rules.

  • Attend mandatory training as required.

Additional Duties

  • Assist in special functions, which may occasionally fall outside regular hours (e.g., funerals, celebrations).

  • Report customer feedback, incidents, or irregularities as needed.

  • Train new colleagues as part of team integration.

  • Attend meetings and occasional overtime as required.

  • This role is ideal for someone with experience in a kitchen environment, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
