Communications Executive

Job Introduction

If you’re looking to get your career off to a start in the brand and comms world this could be a great opportunity for you! Our Brand & Communications team are a passionate, proactive and knowledgeable team who deliver measurable and impactful messaging that drives results and engagement.

We’re looking for someone ambitious, confident and highly organised to join our team as a Communications Executive, working across both internal and external communications. On internal communications you’ll be providing monitoring and community management of colleague channels such as Poppulo Mobile, Sodexo_Net, Yammer, supporting content development for internal communications channels and fine tuning presentations and slide decks for directors. On external communications, you’ll be responsible for helping the business understand on a daily basis what is being said in the media and on social media, through analysis and reporting on media coverage and supporting social media listening. If you’re keen to build on your writing skills, the team will work with you to help you develop a nose for a story and learn how to write press releases that make it into the media. You’ll also get the opportunity to provide on-the-ground production support for content filming, including both ad hoc campaigns and key projects as assigned. You’ll get an introduction to event planning, assisting with delivering a calendar of events such as Spirit of Sodexo and Stop Hunger Foundation Dinner.

This will be a diverse and interesting role giving you great exposure to the inner working of the Brand & Comms team and the opportunity to learn a range of skills from experienced communications professionals. You’ll be part of a collaborative team who are keen to support your development and enable you to build on your skills and experience to further your career.

Role Responsibility

  • Monitoring and community management of colleague channels (Poppulo Mobile, Sodexo_Net and Yammer and six email inboxes)
  • Planning and drafting copy for use on Sodexo_Net, Poppulo Mobile, ‘The Weekly Brief’ and email
  • Assist with publication of content on Sodexo_Net via relevant Content Management Systems
  • Manage forward features and awards calendars for Press & PR team
  • Undertake daily media monitoring and produce and distribute report to relevant distribution lists
  • Support the Social Media Manager by undertaking (once trained) social listening and reporting insights to relevant stakeholders
  • With guidance and support start producing first draft press releases
  • Support the UK&I Brand & Comms team with impact reporting
  • On the ground production support to the creative team for the filming and interviewing of content across the UK&I for key projects
  • Provide project planning, administrative (e.g. delegate management) and on-site operational support to events including (but not limited to): Senior Leadership Conference, Spirit of Sodexo Awards, Stop Hunger Foundation Dinner, Long Service Awards, Segment / Transversal conferences, global employee broadcast, Senior Managers’ updates, roadshows
  • Support the Employee and Change Communications Director and Press and PR Director with general project assistance

The Ideal Candidate

  • Public Relations, Communications, Event Management, Journalism, Creative Writing or related qualification
  • Great writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail and an eagerness to learn
  • General media awareness and brilliant computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, producing PDFs, Outlook
  • Highly organized with good planning capabilities, happy and able to provide administrative support
  • Confident, friendly, enthusiastic, a great communicator and able to interface with a wide range of people at different levels within our organisation
  • Previous experience of working in a PR or communications team or of providing administrative support in a business environment would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Skills using one or more Adobe platform (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PremierePro, Dreamweaver) would be beneficial

c.£25,000 per annum plus benefits and bonus
