Are you ready to step into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? We’re looking for a passionate, motivated, and skilled Commis Chef Pastry to join our pioneering team at Wellington College,RG45 7PU . In this role, you’ll be more than just a chef – you’ll play an essential part in shaping a positive future for young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a professional kitchen with high-quality ingredients, creating a variety of delicious pastries, desserts, and baked goods. There's good access to the Crowthorne train station nearby, on site car parking available.
What You’ll Do:
Deals with the preparation of products from the base (doughs, cooking,..) to final finishing, portioning with care and precision
Uses specific pastry techniques to take care of the details of each product according to company standards of image and presentation, guaranteeing quality and excellence
Uses pastry tools and equipment for each process and works safely with them taking care of maintenance and cleaning.
Assist with set up, presentation and replenishment as required for core feeding and for hospitality functions
Organises workstation in respect of shared spaces
Motivated and creative contributing ideas for future menus
Assist Head Pastry Chef with stock take and ordering as required
The safe preparation of food with all due care and attention, with a key focus on allergens and other specific dietary requests
Comply with all company procedures including the completion of all due diligence paper-work relating to Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations
Assist with the implementation of cleaning schedules to agreed standards
Communicate well and promote a friendly working relationship with colleagues
Promote a good company image to customers and guests by using positive customer service practices
To undertake occasional duties outside the normal routine but within the scope of the position and the department’s activities
To assist, as required, at special functions, some of which may occur outside normal working hours, for which you will be paid overtime
To attend courses, as required
What You Bring:
Essential
- Demonstrate experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company
- Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
- A good communicator with strong command of the English language
- Ability to work well under pressure during peak times
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Desirable
- Specialist pastry qualification is advantageous
