Location: Sevenoaks School, Sevenoaks, Kent TN13 1HU

Salary: £12.50 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: 5 days over 7 (flexible shifts)

As a Commis Chef you will will work alongside our skilled chefs to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for students, staff, and special events. Your attitude will influence the team's daily lives as the person they go to for support, which will in turn foster a vibrant and productive work environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and present delicious, nutritious meals to high standards

  • Follow hygiene, safety, and security regulations in a professional kitchen

  • Cater to special dietary requirements with care and attention

  • Support special functions, promotions, and training sessions

  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working environment

  • Collaborate with a values-led team that is driven, innovative, and purpose-focused

  • Assist the Senior Chef team with operating costs and controls to ensure Sodexo is achieving optimum profits.

  • Assist the Senior Chef Team with the smooth running of the kitchen in regard to heading up all hospitality functions, and delivery of the core catering food.

  • Monitor the quality of food leaving the kitchen and take appropriate action where necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.

What You Bring:

Essential     

  • NVQ level 2 in food preparation     
  • Demonstrate experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company     
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards.    
  •  Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions.     
  • HACCP awareness     
  • To demonstrate a flexible attitude to working hours and promote a positive mental outlook to all aspects of work.     
  • Be always respectful of others.     
  • The desire and tenacity to adhere to procedures.    
  •  Basic Food Hygiene and Health and Safety Certificates 
Desirable
  • Personal innovation and creativity    
  • To show a hunger and passion for good food and the drive to make it achievable.
  • Good admin, completion of required kitchen paperwork.
  • Flexible approach to the role and be self-motivated.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients and staff
