Commercial Painter
Job Introduction
Job Purpose:
- To maintain the Waltham campus building interior and external painted surfaces ensuring high quality welcoming working environments
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the application of varnish, polyurethane, primer, paint, and other specialty coatings
- Choose premixed paints or mix the required pigment, oil, thinning or drying substances to match the colour spec
- Mask and prepare structure surfaces for coatings
- Blend and reduce paint systems and apply paint to meet specifications
- Clean and maintain equipment by removing all traces of paint
- Repair and remodel imperfections
- Perform exterior and interior painting of commercial buildings, steel, equipment, structures, etc.
- Prepare and protect work surfaces with drop cloths and masking
- Responsible for loading, unloading, and preparing and cleaning of job sites, materials, and tools
- Provide quality work and take corrective action for conditions that may affect job quality
- Responsible for the setup and execution of tasks on scaffolding and ladders
- Utilize brush, spray gun, or paint roller to accurately paint various surfaces
- Install specified nozzles in spray guns, replace screens and filters and maintain the sprayer.
- Competent in hanging / installing wall coverings
- Competent in delivering basic fabric engineering tasks
- Compilation and delivery of significant painting plans for all site facilities
- Flexible to works with and support other team members and client personnel
- Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by senior management in order to meet the operational requirements of the business.
- To continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position.
- Professional management of working with chemicals including safe disposal
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook
- Basis numeracy / literacy skills
- Supervisory Experience
- A minimum of 2 years professional domestic, industrial/commercial painting experience.
- Physically fit and able to perform the role.
- Trained in the use of scaffolding steps and ladder
- Excellent Time Management
- Great customer facing skills
- Driving licence
Desirable
- City & Guilds or equivalent qualification
- Employers are also interested in commercial painters with knowledge of Taping and Floating Drywall, Drywall Finishing, and floor coatings
- PASMA Licence
- IPAF Licence
