Commercial Finance Controller

Job Introduction

Following promotion Sodexo Healthcare have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Finance Controller to join our team based on site at Central Manchester University Hospital.

This is a key role supporting the Business Director in all aspects of commercial decision-making financial performance, financial control, and contractual negotiations and discussions with both Project Co. and the Trust. You’ll lead a team to deliver the monthly results and take ownership for delivering accurate financial and management information. Working alongside the operations team to maximise our financial performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives whilst managing risk.

You’ll be the main point of contact on site managing client negotiations from a financial perspective and will be a skilled communicator able to listen to concerns and present these back to our exec team.

A great opportunity for an experienced, driven finance professional to work on the largest PFI contract in Europe which will offer commercial development, high level exposure and the potential to progress.

Role Responsibility

  • Support the Operational leads in the management of the on-going complexities of the contract
  • Involvement in discussions and negotiations with Trusts and Project Co, influencing decision makers to achieve the best possible outcome for Sodexo
  • Providing expert financial and commercial advice to operational management, driving financial performance through commercially sound decision making
  • Agreement of annual budgets and maintaining a robust forecasting process across the remit,
  • Preparation of relevant, timely management information to equip the operators with the information required to make business decisions
  • Provision of financial support for central projects and initiatives including the production and circulation of accurate MI
  • Support the implementation and on-going delivery of Sodexo and Healthcare segment strategies as required, ensuring effective change management.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a fully or part qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with experience, have excellent negotiation skills with the confidence to challenge, influence, and support at all levels across the business.

  • Proven commercial acumen and negotiation skills gained through experience in dealing with complex contracts
  • Strong communicator with the confidence to challenge, influence, and support at all levels
  • Demonstrable experience in continuous improvement and driving financial performance.  The ability to keep focus on day-to-day performance whilst simultaneously pursuing longer-term opportunities
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Proven ability to scope and deliver projects
  • Ability to build a strong and motivated finance team
  • A keen attention to detail
  • Experienced Microsoft Office user with strength in excel modelling. Desirable to have SAP system experience
  • It would be beneficial although not essential to have experience in the Healthcare industry and of dealing with PFI contracts.

Package Description

£60-65k per annum + company bonus and an excellent flexible benefits package
