Chef – Permanent
Location: Fortrea Clinical Research Unit, Drapers Yard, Holbeck, Leeds, LS11 9EH
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (any 5 out of 7, including weekends)
Shift Pattern: Early (07:00–15:00), Late (14:00–22:00), Weekend (12:00–20:00)
Hourly Rate: £13.01

Join Our Culinary Team at Fortrea Clinical Research Unit

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Chef to join our team at Fortrea Clinical Research Unit in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment, preparing high-quality, nutritious meals that support patient wellbeing and vital clinical research.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals to agreed standards and specifications

  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness at all times

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and HACCP procedures

  • Support stock control, ordering, and waste reduction initiatives

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, service users, and management

  • Work flexibly across early, late, and weekend shifts as required

  • Take ownership of your section, ensuring consistent quality and presentation

Ideal Candidate

  • Holds relevant catering qualifications (as detailed in the job description)

  • Previous experience in a similar chef or catering role, ideally within healthcare or clinical settings

  • Sound knowledge of food safety, allergens, and HACCP requirements

  • Excellent organisation and time management skills

  • Reliable, motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team

Pre-Employment Requirements

This position requires a DBS check prior to starting.
