Job Introduction

Join Sodexo as a Chef at our HMPPS Newbold Revel , Rugby, CV23 OTH.

We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Chef to join the catering team at HMPPS Newbold Revel Training College, a key training facility supporting the development of prison and probation staff.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering a high-quality catering service for staff, trainees, and visitors — ensuring that all food is prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standards while maintaining excellent hygiene, safety, and customer service practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals to a consistently high standard, ensuring food is cooked, served, and stored at the correct temperature.
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, and allergen standards, completing all required checks and food diaries accurately.
  • Support with the control, rotation, and storage of food supplies, reporting any non-conformances or faulty equipment.
  • Attend team meetings, briefs, and performance reviews, contributing to a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment, following all site-specific opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide catering support services across the site, including preparation, service, and waste management.
  • Communicate effectively with your line manager, team members, and clients to maintain excellent working relationships.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development by attending training courses and actively enhancing your skills.
  • Care for all available resources, including equipment and materials, ensuring efficient and sustainable use.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by management.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar catering role within a service industry at a comparable level.
  • Qualified to one of the following (or equivalent):
  • BSC (Catering), MHCIM, HND, City & Guilds 706/1 and 2, or NVQ Level 2 and 3.
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • CIEH Level 2 (or equivalent) Food Safety qualification.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience working within a military or secure environment.
  • IOSH qualification (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage client relationships effectively.
