Chef at Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh

Job Introduction

Heritage Portfolio are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef to join our culinary team at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Under the guidance of our Head Chef and Head Baker, this role requires the candidate to work between our on-site Bakery at the Terrace and our main café at the Gateway, as well as supporting menu preparation for our in-house events.

After a refurbishment to our two main sites in July 2021, our cafes are now destinations in their own right, set in the most beautiful of surroundings. We are much loved by our regulars for our location and for our tasty salads, soups, hot food and home baking. The emphasis is on fresh, delicious food prepared daily, using local and seasonal produce where possible, including from the Botanics’ own kitchen garden. Everything produced in our kitchens is made from scratch.

The Ideal Candidate

-             Have a hard working and reliable attitude

-             Good kitchen practice and creative flair with knowledge of food preparation and ingredients

-             Be flexible in order to meet company demands

-             Previous experience of high-volume catering

-             Be at home in a fast paced, busy kitchen

-             Excellent levels of kitchen hygiene

-             Ability to prioritise and multi-task

-             Good understanding of English, both written and orally

About the Company

Heritage Portfolio is the sub-segment of Sodexo Live! that produces outstanding catering and event services for our cultural destinations. These include exceptional “in-house” café services in some of Britain’s leading visitor attractions such as V&A Dundee, The Signet Library, The Scottish National Gallery, private parties and dining, weddings and prestigious events including The Queen’s annual Royal Garden Party for which we are honoured to have received a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen as Supplier of Catering Services.
