Chef at HMP Altcourse

Job Introduction

As a Chef at HMP Altcourse, you'll play a crucial role in supervising and coaching prisoners in the production of 1200 plus meals 3 times a day. 

You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen awareness. Your commitment to overseeing cleaning procedures, stock rotation, and adherence to Health & Safety procedures will not only impact the daily operations of the kitchen but will also foster a positive and secure environment.
You will be working alongside prisoners.

If you have a City and Guilds706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ Level 1 and 2 diploma in food production and cooking, coupled with industrial catering experience, and share our passion for creating positive change, we invite you to be a part of our team. Salary : £22,561.00
Working hours : 35 hours per week 

The Ideal Candidate:
We would encourage you to apply if you meet the following criteria:
  • You will need City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ Level 1 and 2 in food production and cooking.
  • Some industrial catering experience is desirable but not necessary.
  • It would be advantageous if you have experience instructing/supporting people with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience in a prison or forces environment is desirable but not necessary.
Whilst the ideal candidate would fit into the above criteria, we would implore applicants with the relevant transferrable skills to apply for this role, as you may still be a great fit!
