Purpose of the Job:

The Catering Manager leads the delivery of high-quality catering services, ensuring profitability, client satisfaction, and compliance with food safety standards. The role involves driving growth, managing budgets, optimizing service delivery, and leading a team to meet operational goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Client Growth:

    • Increase sales by 5% through promotions and value-added services.
    • Develop client relationships to retain business and attract new clients.
    • Ensure consistent service quality, meeting or exceeding KPIs.
  • Financial Management:

    • Own P&L, ensuring revenue targets are met and costs are controlled.
    • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures.
    • Provide timely financial reports and forecast accurately.
  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Recruit, train, and manage staff, ensuring a motivated and high-performing team.
    • Conduct performance reviews and offer coaching for continuous development.
    • Foster a positive work environment and promote Sodexo’s values.
  • Operational Excellence:

    • Ensure timely and efficient service, meeting all catering requirements and safety standards.
    • Manage costs, including labor and supplies, in line with the budget.
    • Conduct food safety and HSE audits, addressing issues promptly.
  • Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety, and hygiene regulations.
    • Maintain safe working conditions and oversee equipment maintenance.

Accountabilities:

  • Financial Performance:

    • Manage the catering department’s budget, P&L, and overall profitability.
    • Drive revenue growth and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Quality & Service:

    • Maintain food quality and presentation, ensuring customer satisfaction.
    • Achieve consistent results through service audits and corrective actions.
  • Client & Stakeholder Relationships:

    • Build strong client relationships and maintain positive feedback.
    • Ensure all service level agreements are met.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in catering management, P&L responsibility, and team leadership.
    • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and operational management.
  • Skills:

    • Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
  • Qualifications:

    • IOSH Managing Safely and Food Safety qualifications (or equivalent).
