Catering Dietitian
Job Introduction

They are now looking for a Dietitian to join their Healthcare segment, which is a leading provider of outsourced healthcare services, designing, delivering and managing a range of consistent, high quality comprehensive solutions which meet both the operational and strategic needs of clients. These clients include the NHS, private hospitals, residential care facilities and individuals in their own homes. The role is onvolved in providing nutritional expertise and dietetic advice to catering departments across a range of contracts within Healthcare
Role Responsibility
- To advise Healthcare of relevant nutrition and dietetics issues; providing in-house nutrition and dietetics expertise which includes reviewing and drawing on current research, publications and good practice
- To assist with new business and existing customer retention tenders – attending sampling days, site visits, preparing dietetic information and contributing to presentations
- To actively keep abreast of current research, best practice and trends in nutrition and dietetics, both clinically and as applied to food and beverage services, using this to underpin and maintain a CPD portfolio; you will be supported to access formal and informal opportunities for professional update and networking
- To keep up to date on all relevant nutritional & monitoring standards, including those set by the Care Quality Commission (and equivalent monitoring bodies throughout the UK), British Dietetic Association and the National Association of Care Catering; to help translate these standards into nutritional targets to aid customer compliance; to help develop and apply meaningful diet coding criteria
- To work with existing operators to ensure that their Trust is provided with food to meet the requirements for the wide range of adults’ and childrens’ therapeutic diets
- Keep informed and up-to-date of catering related projects in bpth adults and childrens services, providing relevant input where necessary in collaboration with Dietitians, Sodexo, Ward Staff and Nutrition Nurses
- To promote new ideas for product development and provide feedback to relevant/key suppliers i.e. identified gaps in current ranges
- To assist with menu reviews, ensuring that the nutritional content of the menus meets national standards and encompasses all reasonable dietary requirements, religious beliefs and the wide range of cultural diets
- Always seeking to improve on the quality and access to nutrition and dietetics information for customers
- Check all proposed menus/changes to ensure that menus/diets are coded correctly for our patients in line with trust dietetic practice and coding definitions i.e. nutritional analysis is available from suppliers or Sodexo’s nutrition and dietetic service
- To help organise and take part in workshop exercises with client dietitians
- To seek feedback from existing customers through surveys and consultation projects
The Ideal Candidate
- A Registered Dietitian (valid Health & Care Professions Council number) and evidences regular CPD activities
- Relevant dietetics experience, some of which has been within the NHS
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective time management and high level of personal organisation
- Keeps abreast of current trends and research in food services and relevant aspects of clinical dietetics
- Prepared to undertake extensive national travel and stay away overnight as required by the business
- Ability to be a successful team player as well as working autonomously as the role requires
- Flexible and able to respond to last minute requests
- Keen interest in food and food-related topics
- An appreciation of the required levels of data accuracy in nutritional analysis
