We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team at Ferryfield House in a variety of essential roles. Whether you're helping to keep the hospital clean, serving meals, or assisting with patient transport, your work makes a real difference to the care and experience of every patient.
Please see below the roles we offer:
Ward Host
As a Ward Host, you will play a key role in delivering meals and beverages to patients on wards. You’ll ensure that meals meet dietary requirements and are served with care and attention.
Key Tasks:
- Take and deliver patient meal orders
- Serve food and drinks safely and hygienically
- Maintain ward kitchen cleanliness and food records
Ideal Candidate: Friendly, organised, and patient-focused. Previous hospitality or NHS experience is a plus.
Domestic Assistant
Domestic Assistants help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment. You’ll support infection control through routine and deep cleaning of wards, corridors, and clinical areas.
Key Tasks:
- Perform scheduled and reactive cleaning duties
- Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely
- Follow hygiene and infection control protocols
Ideal Candidate: Reliable and detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility. Cleaning experience preferred.
Food Service Assistant
As a Food Service Assistant, you'll support the preparation and serving of meals in the hospital kitchen and dining areas. You'll help keep food areas clean and compliant with hygiene standards.
Key Tasks:
- Assist in food prep, portioning, and delivery
- Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and service areas
- Comply with food hygiene and safety standards
Ideal Candidate: Team player with food service experience. Basic food hygiene certification is desirable.
Porter
Hospital Porters are vital for the smooth transport of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital. You’ll be on the move, helping ensure safe and efficient transfers.
Key Tasks:
- Transport patients, specimens, and equipment
- Respond to emergency and routine requests
- Maintain respect, dignity, and patient comfort at all times
Ideal Candidate: Physically fit, calm under pressure, and great with people. Previous portering or manual handling experience is helpful.
