Caretaker/Security Relief

Job Introduction

35 hours  over various shifts for holiday cover. Ideal candidate will have an SIA front line license and hold a full clean driving license

Role Responsibility

  • To ensure the efficient delivery collection and sorting of goods and supplies and where necessary assist with accepting deliveries of goods to the site and safe storage of items
  • To assist with the chaperoning of sub-contractors and any other visitors to site where necessary and ensuring they conform to all site rules, Sodexo code of conduct and to the safe requirements of the service being delivered as written out in their SOPs/terms of reference and/or work packs
  • To ensure all work-related tasks, for all service delivery lines are delivered in a safe, diligent and best practice manner pertaining to the service requirements of the contract specification and all health, safety and hygiene regulations
  • Use any cleaning product safely as detailed by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health guidelines (COSHH)
  • Have full working knowledge of all equipment used in the completion of all work-related activities, including but not limited to equipment, materials, chemicals and agents.
  • Safe working practices must be maintained at all times in the workplace as per the requirements of the site and Sodexo operating systems
  • To be flexible and responsive to changing daily priorities
  • To be able to handle and lift items of variable weight utilizing tools and trolleys provided
  • To be knowledgeable of all tasks so that at the commencement of the shift the current scheduled activity is supported, without the need for specific direction
  • To have sufficient knowledge of the building layout to be able to deliver services as required
  • To assist in the transportation of ‘light goods’ as required i.e. providing a porter service
  • To use the radio / pager /phone system on site in a professional manner and to maintain appropriate etiquette at all times
  • To provide a smart appearance, including high standards of personal hygiene and cordial behavior towards users. Full uniform to be worn
  • To check all equipment before use and report defects to manager / supervisor if necessary remove faulty equipment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize
  • Flexible and affable approach with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a wide FM team
  • Where applicable ensure buildings are secured, alarmed and undertake key holding duties. This may include periodic security checks of internal and external areas of the building.
  • Daily set up of conference / lecture rooms including event requirements and dismantle thereafter. General removal / distribution of furniture, equipment as required
  • Undertake driving duties as required i.e. local deliveries (to include maintain vehicles in a clean and tidy condition and carry out where needed visual checks as instructed)
  • To deliver / collect mail and equipment as required
  • Carry out routine tests of building systems and services e.g. fire alarms, emergency lights, generators, sprinkler systems, heating, water temperature checks, and defibrillator. Building daily, weekly and monthly check sheets and complete and maintain relevant documentation
  • Record meter readings monthly
  • External – check fence lines weekly. Ensure front entrances are swept daily and external bins are emptied. Check car park areas for ice and apply grit where required
  • Supervision of contractors as required, to ensure that Sub Contractors deliver services in compliance with the service required and as detailed in the SLR and Contract Agreement
  • Maintain hard standing areas
  • Control car parking spaces
  • Supervision of ad-hoc out of hour lets / events (overtime provided)
  • Provide break cover for Security officers if applicable
  • Log through the helpdesk all tasks and update tasks correctly and accurately and ensure all are completed within agreed timescales
  • Support the team with the provision of any necessary paperwork for the monthly report submission
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available to the required standard so that they remain safe and viable at all times within agreed timescales and in line with the SLR
  • From time to time the Caretaking staff are required to supervise hospitality events and provide access where required to staff and contractors. These events are generally out with normal operating hours or at weekends.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a facilities environment and able to evidence ability to follow instruction
  • The ability to implement and adhere to standards and procedures
  • Health and Safety experience
  • Good interpersonal skills and IT literate
  • Good customer service skills
  • Methodical approach and good eye for detail

Package Description

Caretaker/Security Guard required to cover holidays at Headquarters in Hamilton and Cambuslang. A flexible person required to work between 2 sites. Duties include room moves, opening and lock up procedures, maintenance checks, waste disposal,  Security break cover, stores allocation and reactive cleaning as required.
