Job Introduction
As a Car Park Attendant for Sodexo based at Colchester Hospital, you will deliver a professional, high-quality, and reliable parking service. This will involve helping to manage and coordinate traffic across the site, support the safe handling of cash from on-site machines, and respond proactively and compassionately to parking infringements.

What you’ll do:
- Conduct regular and ad-hoc patrols across all hospital car parks to ensure adherence to the Trust's Car Parking Policy.
- Assist and direct drivers to available parking spaces, ensuring smooth traffic flow and efficient use of parking areas.
- Issue parking infringement notices for non-compliance with policies or obstruction of emergency access routes.
- Respond promptly to car park alerts and take appropriate action to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Check, maintain, and clean pay-on-foot machines, reporting any faults to the Travel Plan Coordinator.
- Support cash collection operations, including the emptying and handling of money from machines in line with Trust procedures.
- Liaise with Trust staff and emergency services to report incidents or potential security risks and take necessary actions.
- Provide courteous assistance and information to patients, visitors, and staff, maintaining a professional and helpful presence at all times.
What you bring:
Education/Qualifications - Good general standard of education and Health & Safety Passport.
Skills/Abilities
- Flexible working practice must be able to work a flexible shift pattern and overtime as required.
- Ability to cope within a highly productive and sometimes stressful environment.
- Good written skills, with ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English language.
- Good numerical skills.
- Confidence to communicate effectively with a wide range of people from general public to Senior Managers.
Experience - Demonstrable customer service skills.
Desirable Experience - Ideally consistent experience in a similar role. Previous Healthcare experience.
Personal Qualities - Smart, clean and well presented. Team worker, practical with a common sense approach, friendly, considerate, approachable and reassuring, Honest & Patient.
