Administration Team Leader OMU

We are currently recruiting an OMU / Custody Team Administration Team Leader to join our team at HMP Peterborough, supporting the safe, secure, and effective running of offender management services.

This is a key leadership role within the Offender Management Unit (OMU), where you will lead and support a team of Administrators, ensure compliance with HMPPS and Sodexo policies, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality custodial administration services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as first-line Team Leader for OMU/Custody Team Administrators, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, wellbeing, absence, and performance in line with Sodexo policies.

  • Ensure compliance with Sodexo and HMPPS policies, including secure handling of confidential information, accurate record management, and data protection.

  • Support and oversee administrative processes relating to prisoner court attendance, court warrants, and OMU operational activity.

  • Undertake Sentence Calculation training, achieving and maintaining an HMPPS Licence to Operate, and performing advanced sentence calculations and Team Leader checks.

  • Develop and implement Local Operating Procedures, monitor performance data, and ensure accurate and timely reporting against Contractual Delivery Indicators (CDIs).

  • Represent OMU leadership in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including HMPPS, HMCTS, police, prisoner transport services, and internal departments.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Proven experience in people leadership, including recruitment, staff development, managing absence, and performance in line with policy.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced administrative environment.

  • Competent in IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to collate, analyse, and present data accurately.

  • Experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the English legal system.

  • Experience working within prison, probation, or court services.

  • Knowledge of HMPPS / HMCTS systems, including DPS, Common Platform, and nDelius.


Package Description

  • £33,000 per annum

  • Monday to Friday working pattern
