Join HMP Bronzefield as a Fire Safety Officer and play a vital role in maintaining a safe custodial environment for staff, prisoners, and visitors. This role is responsible for all aspects of fire prevention, protection, and emergency response across the site. You’ll provide expert fire safety advice, conduct inspections, deliver training, and ensure compliance with all relevant fire safety legislation and standards.

Act as the fire safety subject matter expert, providing guidance and producing technical documentation.
Manage fire risk assessments, inspections, remedial actions, and maintain accurate compliance records.
Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of fire safety programmes, policies, and procedures.
Deliver fire safety training to staff, including fire awareness, evacuation procedures, and Fire Response Team (FRT) readiness.
Plan and coordinate fire drills, participate in incident management, and liaise with local Fire & Rescue Services.
Provide professional advice on fire safety for refurbishment, new builds, and changes to existing facilities.

Proven experience in fire safety, inspection, or risk assessment, with strong knowledge of UK fire legislation.
Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Fire Safety, with membership of a relevant professional body (IFE, IFSM, or equivalent).
Excellent communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.
Calm, decisive, and effective under pressure, including during emergency situations.
Strong organisational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities with attention to detail.

Experience in custodial or similar environments, NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management Certificate (or equivalent).
The successful candidate will be subject to Enhanced Vetting Level 1 and DBS checks.
Salary: £29,652 – £33,359 + £3,729.24 per annum
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
