Chef de Partie – Job Description

Location: Stevenage, SG1 2NY

Contract Type: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00-15:00

Salary: £12.96 per hour plus Sodexo benefits

As a Chef de Partie, you will manage a dedicated section of the kitchen, delivering high-quality, freshly prepared dishes in a fast-paced, professional environment. You’ll be working with one of our large pharmaceutical clients, supporting a high-profile site where quality, precision, and consistency really matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook dishes in line with recipes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
  • Manage a kitchen section, ensuring all preparation is completed before service.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and allergen control.
  • Monitor stock levels, rotate stock using FIFO, and minimise food waste.
  • Support cost control by following recipes and portion standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the Sous Chef and Head Chef regarding kitchen operations, issues, or shortages.

Key Accountabilities

  • Dishes ready for service at 8:00am (breakfast) and 11:30am (lunch).
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Complete mandatory training and daily food safety documentation.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, or technical faults.
  • Be flexible with working hours to meet business needs.

Skills & Qualifications

  • City & Guilds Level 1–2 or NVQ (or equivalent).
  • Food Safety Level 2–3 and Allergen Awareness.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and HACCP.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
