This role is responsible for embedding a robust, data-led asset management strategy that maximises asset performance, lifecycle value and service reliability across a complex, multi-site government contract.

The Asset Manager provides strategic oversight of asset data, lifecycle planning, condition assessments and investment forecasting to ensure:

  • Statutory compliance
  • Operational continuity
  • Long-term value for the client
  • Effective risk management across critical assets

You will ensure asset management principles are embedded within operational and commercial decision-making, supporting Sodexo standards and aligning with a Zero Harm Mindset.

This role requires strong cross-functional leadership, analytical capability and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through data-driven insight.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and implement asset management strategies to optimise lifecycle performance, reliability and whole-life cost.
  • Maintain and govern accurate asset registers, lifecycle models and condition data.
  • Lead asset surveys, condition assessments and risk reviews.
  • Analyse performance trends, maintenance history and failure data to identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and industry standards are met across all asset categories.
  • Embed risk-based asset management approaches aligned to criticality and service impact.
  • Produce performance reports, lifecycle forecasts, investment cases and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead governance and optimisation of asset management systems (CAFM), ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with operational, technical, finance and commercial teams to align asset strategy with business objectives.
  • Manage risks related to compliance, obsolescence and service continuity.
  • Drive continuous improvement in asset modelling, reporting and decision-making frameworks.
  • Promote a strong health, safety and Zero Harm culture within all asset management activities.

The Environment

HMRC West is a large, complex estate containing diverse and operationally critical assets including:

  • Mechanical & Electrical systems
  • Infrastructure and life safety systems
  • Building fabric assets

Operational priorities include

  • Maintaining data integrity within CAFM and asset systems
  • Balancing lifecycle investment with commercial constraints
  • Managing statutory compliance and regulatory risk
  • Identifying and mitigating risks linked to condition and obsolescence
  • Supporting investment decisions through robust evidence and forecasting

What you bring

  • Proven experience in asset management within Facilities Management, Engineering or Technical Services.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle planning and whole-life costing principles.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements within technical services environments.
  • Experience using CAFM or asset management systems.
  • Understanding of risk-based asset management methodologies.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience developing asset strategies across multi-site portfolios.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience interpreting performance and condition data.
  • Experience developing investment cases and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate technical asset information into commercial insight.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across operational, commercial and client teams.
  • Experience managing compliance risk and supporting audit processes.
  • Commitment to health, safety and Zero Harm principles.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with a proactive mindset.
  • Strong leadership and influencing capability.
  • High integrity and governance discipline.
  • Commercially aware and financially literate.
  • Continuous improvement focused.

Desirable

  • Professional qualification in Engineering, Asset Management or Facilities Management.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. Institute of Asset Management, Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management, or Institution of Engineering and Technology).
