Our busy high profile Officers Mess regularly facilities functions for VIP’s and provides our service personnel and their guests with the high quality facilities and services they deserve. We are seeking an experienced food and beverage professional (Mess Manager) with exceptional client relationship and leadership skills to manage the day to day activities. Challenging yet exciting times are ahead as we near the ceremonial season which includes the Queens Trooping of the Colour. We also offer our facilities for Weddings and other ad-hoc celebrations.
Sodexo Defence segment’s catering, retail and leisure facilities have been developed to combine high street style restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and leisure services
Role Responsibility
As Mess Manager you’ll promote and manage functions including planning, menus and costing in conjunction with the catering team
You will regularly meet with our client to understand their function requirements and gain feedback on service levels, ensuring standards detailed in the schedule of requirements (SOR) and quantity tables are achieved, maintained and developed. Liaison with the PMC/RSM and Mess committee are paramount on this role to further develop relationships and promote Sodexo

The Ideal Candidate
- Experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company
- Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team
- Proven experience in hospitality sector, including stock management, cash control and customer service
- Proven experience of managing client relationships
- Good numerical and communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
- Management knowledge of health & safety and food safety - minimum Food Safety Level 2
- Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
- Able to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
- Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions
Desirable
- IOSH and CIEH qualifications or equivalent
- Experience of working in a military environment
