Offender Management Unit Administrator

Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen to work as an OMU Administrator within HMP & YOI Bronzefield reporting to the Probation Senior Administrator.  The role will include providing comprehensive administration support to the Probation Manager and the Probation Team in order to assist in the provision of an efficient and effective department

Role Responsibility

Key aspects of the post:

  • Represent a “single point of contact” for each element of the offender’s casework.
  • To ensure that information is stored accurately, updated and made available.
  •  To provide general administration duties within the OMU Department
  • To liaise with Offender Manager’s/Supervisors both within the prison and in the community.
  • To liaise with outside Probation teams, Courts and Social Service departments in relation to external enquiries and gathering information for risk assessment, MAPPA and child protection work, where applicable.
  • To collate information for Sentence Planning Boards, Release on Temporary Licence and Home Detention Curfew
  • To answer and respond to telephone enquiries and correspondence within the dept .
  • To arrange and minute take for Sentence Planning meetings
  • To be part of a multi-tasked administrative team within HMP/YOI Bronzefield To carry out any other reasonable request(s) made by the Bronzefield Management Team.
  • To assist in the cover of other OMU Administration tasks when required.
  • To participate in training as required in order to keep up-to-date all mandatory and refresher training.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • The successful candidate must be computer literate
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Highly motivated and willing to learn
  • Knowledge or experience of customer experience service delivery.
  • To promote and understand the SJS Safeguarding Children Policy and Procedure.
  • Flexible in approach
  • To be committed to personal development
  • To participate in training as required in order to keep up to date with all mandatory and refresher training.

Desirable

  • Relevant experience is desirable with good educative history, including any relevant administrative qualifications. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and e-mail packages is essential. Ability to minute-take in shorthand desirable,but not essential.
