Sous Chef - Events

Job Introduction

This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your culinary skills and work closely with a senior Chef to develop your career. Based at Ascot racecourse, you will work with and support the Executive Head Chef to deliver first class fine dining and VIP hospitality plus general event catering across the UK, including venues such as The Rugby World Cup and the Open Golf. This is an exciting and faced paced role which will involve some travel and overnight stays.

Role Responsibility

  • Support the Executive Chef with the preparation and presentation of quality food for all event catering services including VIP hospitality, fine dining, functions and fast food outlets
  • Work with the Executive Chef to provide input into the engineering of bespoke menus and planning events
  • Manage all aspects of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene
  • Supervise up to 80 casual Chefs across event outlets, providing training and coaching as necessary.
  • Ensure financial documentation and accountancy of the unit (and those from suppliers) is accurate and within agreed budgeted levels

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within event catering and fine dining
  • Excellent supervisory skills and experience of coordinating large teams at events
  • Experience of volume food operations i.e. banqueting and events
  • Excellent culinary skills and background
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Industry acumen and knowledge of external catering developments and innovations
  • Personal innovation and passion for food
  • Experience working in a standards/compliance environment
