Role Responsibility

Working within the Education segment of Sodexo, the Operations Manager  provides support to the International Study Centre. ensuring Sodexo provides  the highest standard of supervision, support, efficiency and customer care for all students across the services we provide on site.

  • To ensure compliance across the team regarding child safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Acting as a conduit, ensuring effective communication and liaison between Landlord, Head of Centre, Welfare Officer, Academic staff and residential staff ensuring all are effectively briefed and informed regarding individual student matters and residential matters of relevance.
  • Maintenance issues are flagged to subcontractors and addressed in a timely manner.
  • In liaison with key staff ensure all residential staff are fully trained on awareness with regards to drugs, self-harm and alcohol misuse, Child Protection, First Aid and other related residential operations requirements (setting gas, fire alarm etc)
  • Ensure all residential staff are adequately briefed on legislation, quality initiatives and most up to date working practices within the residence
  • Manage student induction and exit process
  • Act as conduit between various ancillary departments and sub-contractor e.g. security, maintenance, H&S, catering, to ensure efficient operating residential service
  • Ensure preparation for and management of new arrivals is of the required standard in accordance with our Residential Handbook
  • Oversee the residence to ensure that it complies with H&S regulatory standards
  • In liaison with the Head of Centre ensure information given and displayed by residential staff to students is of corporate standard and up to date
  • Chair and minute regular meetings with residential staff facilitating effective communication and dialogue with residential staff
  • To ensure that tenancy agreements are issued and returned
  • To develop and execute plans to maximise occupancy levels within the residence
  • Proactively feedback to management regarding concerns and issues in the residences which may impact on the service delivery and the centre.
  • Work with Landlord on financial related matters regarding resident’s deposits and any damages accrued.

The Ideal Candidate

 

  • Experience of working and managing within a boarding school environment would be ideal, or a similar environment.
  • Good knowledge of Child Protection, Safeguarding, National Minimum Standards.
  • Good knowledge of UK legislation relating to the welfare of young people
  • Experience of overseeing / managing facilities desirable
  • Certified at the enhanced DBS level (check undertaken prior to employment)
  • Current First Aid certificate (Training to be provided)
