Deputy Business Manager (Finance)

As Deputy Business Manager, you will support the Business Manager and deputise in their absence, and effectively manage the workload within the Finance department to ensure everything runs smoothly

Role Responsibility

  • Deputise for and support the Head of Business Management in all aspects of functional responsibility including budgets, forecasts & cost centre reporting to Senior Management Team - provide support for business cases, data analysis, and financial reporting
  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the finance department -  providing a support service for the prison operation by working with all internal departments and the management team, helping them to make the right financial decisions, & assisting external stakeholders in all business related matters
  • Effectively manage staff in the department and lead on their personal development and performance management
  • Maintain accounting controls and procurement policies, procedures, and compliance
  • Monthly reconciliation of CMS including clear reporting on NACRO & Other charitable donations, and of resident bank account & other balance sheet accounts
  • Monthly reporting on business development projects with clear system developed and maintained to identify revenue, costs and surplus for each project
  • Coordinate accounts payable function at site level to maintain ledgers with all open, GRIR, parked are kept to the minimum at all times
  • Coordinate new supplier requests & set up process with central procurement and follow it up until completion by maintaining clear records and regular communication
  • Carry out continuous reviews of working practices and processes to ensure efficient and cost effective operations and suggest improvements
  • Take the lead on delivering regular finance workshops in the prison to promote financial awareness

The Ideal Candidate

  • Part Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA) or studying towards a recognised finance qualification with solid accountancy experience in a commercial environment
  • Experienced in managing staff
  • Proven analytical expertise
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise and manage workload.
  • Be able to multi task and work well under pressure.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and requires limited direct supervision and guidance.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Package Description

£30,000-£35,000 DOE plus benefits including free parking, free meals, onsite gym, subsidised Gym membership, discount schemes, pension etc
