Water Hygiene Craftsman

Job Introduction

  •  Primarily responsible for the for the maintenance and testing of water systems onsite and supporting component parts
  •  Support the decontamination team in the safe maintenance of specialist plant and equipment
  •  Supporting the Hard FM Team in the safe maintenance of all systems within the hospital estate
  •  Supporting supervisors and managers with efficient and effective compliance review procedures
  • Providing technical advice and support for the mechanical systems to team and client members
  • Completion of contractual documents, ensuring the financial success of the contract is maintained

Role Responsibility

  • Maintenance, testing and accurate record keeping of water systems in line with a set program and reactive maintenance tasks
  • The maintenance of specialist decontamination plant and equipment in the CSSD department
  • Completion of contractual documents to accurately apportion costs incurred during maintenance works on site
  • Submission of accurate stock count on a monthly basis
  • Accurate ‘Just in Time Ordering’ of spare parts to enable an efficient maintenance regime to be completed in time with annual program
  • Undertake Competent / Appointment Person responsibilities in relation to specified systems
  • Ensuring services comply in accordance with the Project Agreement, legislative, statutory and HTM requirements
  • Contributing to the commercial management of the operational element of the contract, including management of the Performance Monitoring systems and to ensure Contract and Commercial Compliance. Monitoring contractual response and rectification times to ensure compliance and avoidance of service failure and penalties
  • Provide technical and professional support to all staff, colleagues, Engineering compliance with all relevant Health and Safety Legislation and site specific health, Safety and Welfare policies
  • Maintain formal and informal communication with Trust managers related to services activities / working group. Develop good working relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels
  • Use of IT systems to include the CAFM and BMS systems to provide, monitor and report data within the Quality Assurance and other management reporting systems
  • Completion of service specific on the job training
  • Provide technical advice and support for the maintenance of electrical systems for the PFI estate
  • Provision of guidance and advice to colleagues in order to develop skills and improve effectiveness
  • Cooperating with the helpdesk team and ensure the return of completed worksheets in a timely fashion
  • Ensuring a safe working environment and safe systems of work are followed at all times
 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification i.e. BTEC
  • Proven substantial experience within a similar role
  • Confident, capable and able to assess situations calmly and quickly
  • Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving using a logical approach
  • Confident and logical under pressure but must understand urgency and respond accordingly
  • Prepared to work a standby rota
  • Attend external and internal courses as required
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations
  • Reporting writing skills
  • Must be computer literate preferably with knowledge of building management systems
  • Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with good level of mathematical skills
  • Previous experience within a healthcare context
  • Demonstrating maturity in working with multi-discipline trade groups
  • Any specialist knowledge relevant to the healthcare environment
