Warehouse and Distribution Labourer

Job Introduction

Responsible for providing all activities associated in relation to Central Quartermaster Services and or the detached Independent Unit as part of the team, ensuring:

  • Standards of service detailed in the Service Standard Statement (SSS), associated authority regulations and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained, and developed for the assigned operational business area.
  • Deliver general logistic related (warehouse and distribution) labouring and cleaning duties as directed.
  • Support the Warehouse and Distribution Senior Storekeepers or Garrison RQMS as requested.

Role Responsibility

  • Daily undertaking of assigned tasks in supporting the distribution and warehouse and or the independent unit team required delivery outputs and associated tasks such as:
  1. Driving as required.
  2. Collection, receipt storage and distribution of general stores.
  3. Fault reporting and escorting of repair / delivery agency for the whole facility.
  4. Carry out general housekeeping duties as required.
  • Support with the availability, serviceability and movement of all Garrison RQMS or independent unit stores as required.     
  • Maintain training range targets.
  • Carry out and maintain the Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) register (once trained).
  • Carry out weekly fire alarm tests on buildings (once trained).
  • Liaise with Transit Accommodation Clerk on rooms that required cleaning.
  • Operate forklift trained (once trained).
  • Operate warehouse equipment (once trained).
  • To drive Sodexo vehicle and comply with Sodexo’s driving policy and regulations.
  • To check vehicle daily and complete daily vehicle paperwork, maintain vehicle serviceability, all damages are reported to the Line Manager and the vehicle is to be kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • To maintain excellent client/customer relationships.
  • To attend team briefs, huddles and meetings as required.
  • To maintain professional work standards at all times.
  • To care for all Company and Authority used equipment and ensure that any faults are reported to management.
  • Deliver the logistic output in accordance with MOD regulations and procedures.
  • To continually monitor all Health and Safety standards in all service operations and ensure they are maintained at the required level.
  • To report unsafe behaviours, near misses and accidents/incidents to management in a timely manner to support our ‘Zero Harm’ culture.
  • Develop and maintain a positive internal and external network (both Sodexo and MOD).
  • Continued professional learning and development in warehouse and distribution.
  • Support with the delivery of adhoc service as required.   
  • Support the team in the successful passing of all internal and external audits.
  • Support the Military Line Manager as requested.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks and/or instructions as directed by management.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Held a full UK driving license for 2 years.
  • Must be over 25 years of age to driver company vehicle.
  • Physically capable to undertake manual handling tasks associated with the role.
  • Practical understanding of the working of a logistic warehouse and distribution role.
  • Practical numerical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Welfare in the workplace.
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment.
  • Skilled in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be customer service focussed.  

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience of managing customer relationships in a warehouse environment.
  • BPSS clearance. 

Package Description

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday - Thursday 8am - 430pm (1 hour lunch break)
  • Friday 8am - 4pm (1 hour lunch break)
  • Full uniform provide
