Student Placement - Recruitment, Staffng & Training Administrator

Job Introduction

We are looking for an enthusiastic undergraduate to join our staffing and recruitment team at Ascot Racecourse for a 12 month placement. This is for 2nd year students, looking to gain valuable experience before returning to university to complete their final year. Reporting to the Staffing Manager, you will be responsible for recruiting and coordinating casual staff on race days and events at the racecourse, as well their training and engagement with the company, ensuring that we promote a positive and enjoyable workplace. Staffing is crucial to ensure the operational success and you will be able to actively contribute to the events operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in hospitality, events, HR & staffing. This position involves working race days and events therefore flexibility to work weekends is important.

Role Responsibility

The role involves helping the team to make sure we have enough casual staff on site for all race days and events, duties will be:-

  • Attending recruitment fairs to promote casual roles
  • Organise and assist in assessment centres and interviewing candidates
  • Communicate to staff, both full-time and casual, necessary information relating to the race day/event, e.g. areas of work, uniform standards, start dates, pay rates, parking.
  • Engaging with our staff and build relationships with them, ensuring we focus on consistency of staff returning into areas on race days
  • Manage our email inbox where our staff contact us; answering their queries, whether that be payroll queries, shift queries, or referrals for new staff.
  • Book appropriate staff for the race day/event- build your knowledge of the areas and requirements to ensure the staff you are allocating to areas are the most suitable
  • Liaise with our agency providers to inform them of allocations and give them the feedback on their teams post event
  • Help at staff check-in during race days, checking everyone has arrived and flagging any issues to the team – being the first face our staff see so ensuring a positive, happy environment

The Ideal Candidate

A 2nd year student looking for a placement to add experience to their studies, someone who is passionate, articulate and highly organised.

The contract will be 40 hours per week  and you will be required to work race days
