Student Experience Manager

Do you know what students want from their University experience? Are you engaging and passionate about people and service? If so, we have the ideal opportunity for you to join our team as a Student Experience Manager to lead student engagement for a leading University in York.

Through innovation, engagement and an effective communication strategy (social media, marketing, PR & events) you will act as the Sodexo Student Ambassador and work with teams, societies and unions to ensure students are supported, engaged in our services and enjoying their university experience.

Role Responsibility

  • Provide an innovative student experience to Students at York St John University with particular attention to feedback, marketing, social media and engagement
  • Manage a communications plan throughout the year that enables Sodexo to continuously be able to communicate with students, ensuring a consistent approach to communicating with students regarding services, offerings, menus and events etc.
  • Manage and maintain content and grow social media channels, increasing engagement and continuously pushing for innovation
  • Support the Sodexo Account Team in operational activity pertaining to student behaviour and events, managing and reporting on Student engagement and marketing initiatives
  • Develop and implement an annual marketing and promotional calendar to help increase sales and report on the effectiveness of each campaign, designing digital content to support
  • Create newsletters, blogs and case studies to promote company activities, raising brand awareness
  • Work with local suppliers to bring new and exciting products to site and secure student discounts, employability etc.
  • Work closely with the University Sustainability team on activities related to sustainability
  • Lead on the delivery of student and customer surveys, mystery shopper initiatives and customer satisfaction questionnaires. Deliver results in customer and management meetings and to students, agree and implement corrective actions as appropriate

The Ideal Candidate

What’s essential:

  • Previous experience in a similar customer focused role
  • Demonstrable experience of using marketing / promotional content to increase sales
  • Experience of event coordination, ideally within a University or educational environment
  • Experience of using various communication mediums (marketing, PR / social media tools) to engage and retain students or customers
  • Sound understanding of social media platforms and marketing
  • Highly personable with excellent customer focus
  • Strong communicator with an ability to communicate to all levels effectively
  • Proactive and highly organised
  • Extremely flexible
  • An excellent eye for detail

Where we can be flexible:

  • Experience as a student ambassador, union/rep or engagement office would be an advantage
  • Basic design, photoshop and video editing skills would be an advantage
