Storekeeper/Labourer

Job Introduction

Responsible for providing all activities associated in relation to the Logistical Support Unit as part of the team, ensuring:

Standards of service detailed in the Service Standards Statement (SSS), associated authority regulations and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained and developed for the assigned operational business area.

To deliver service excellence and outstanding customer service.

To provide support to the Procurement Supervisor within the Accommodation Services Unit. (ASU)

Support when required all areas of the ASU/PFI.

Role Responsibility

  • Account for lost and replacement keys and report monthly statistics to supervisor, obtain signatures for all paper and debit vouchers pertaining to losses and additional keys.
  • To maintain and operate a database and hard copy systems for controlling, secure all Garrison keys within safes that are provided.
  • Ordering keys at the end of each working week through our main supplier.
  • Prepare end of month billing for barrack damages.
  • Manual handling loads from vehicles or within the warehouses detailed by line manager/supervisor.
  • Manage the Metal & WEEE Skip, tyres and battery compound, and apply for disposal when skips/compounds are full through the Defence Equipment Sales Authority.
  • Carry out general duties within the warehouse as directed by the manager/supervisor when required.
  • To Operate warehouse equipment, mobile steps, pallet trucks etc. (Once Trained)
  • To operate forklift (once trained)
  • To assist in stocktaking when required.
  • Assist other employees when required in the warehouse and to stand in as a labourer on the vehicles when required due to holiday/sickness. 
  • Assist the furniture fitter team in busy periods and cover when required due to holiday/sickness.
  • To assist in loading, offloading of deliveries and collections to and from the ASU warehouse.
  • To assist health and safety within the ASU.
  • To wear PPE at all times when operating in the warehouse.
  • To assist with other tasks, as and when required.
  • To assist in keeping the warehouse and surrounding areas clean and tidy.
  • Receive on the job training/attend training courses as necessary.
  • To attend team briefs, huddles and meetings as required.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks and/ or instructions as directed by management. 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
  • People friendly, customer service skills essential
  • Good communications skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Good time keeping

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Hold a full UK driving License
  • Hold a Forklift License
