Job Introduction

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Site Manager to join us at Penweddig School in Aberystwyth.

In this role you will Maintain amenities within the site and buildings including adjustments for safety or security purposes, carry out porterage and assistance including furniture set up, respond to requests for service and effecting minor repairs to schools structure, fixtures & fittings, furniture and equipment.

As this is a Welsh First speaking school you will need to be able to speak the Welsh language and also have experience as a handyman or have worked in the trades industry.

You will also be able to use computer systems well, be friendly and approachable and have a good level of fitness in order to carry out some of the physically demanding parts of the role.

Due to the nature of the role you will be required to successfully gain an Enhanced DBS (formally CRB) clearance

Role Responsibility

  • To manage and maintain the smooth running of a Welsh first school in Ceredigion
  • The role includes liaising with internal and external staff (Within the medium of Welsh) and taking responsibility for the management, health & safety and security of the school site
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in the maintenance of site based records
  • Undertake regular maintenance audits of the site to identify and escalate any faults
  • Maintain amenities within the site and buildings including adjustments for safety or security purposes.
  • To check lighting levels, identify and re-set lights when tripped, as required
  • Conduct or delegate daily room temperature checks
  • Ensure daily that systems and plant are operating correctly
  • Be available on an “on-call” rota for out of hours call outs

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Welsh speaker
  • Previous experience of property maintenance of at least five years.
  • Trades background with substantial handyman skills.
  • Formal training in Health and Safety awareness and systems.
  • This is a physically demanding role and therefore applicants must have adequate fitness levels.
  • Background knowledge of operating peripherals. (Training will be given for our systems)

o    CCTV systems,

o    Plant rooms,

o    Fire equipment and alarms,

o    Heating systems,

o    Building fixtures and fittings.

 

  • Proven experience of porterage, dealing with goods - including, furniture and office equipment relocation and configuration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Supervisory skills sufficient to manage reports.
  • Be available on an “on-call” rota for out of hours call outs
