Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Introduction

If you are a Skilled Mechanical / Gas Engineer with experience working within a diverse engineering and Facilities Management environment, read on… we’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and manage a team of 10 Mechanical & BMS Engineers and subcontractors.
 

As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will oversee the daily operation and be responsible for the completion and worksheet sign off for planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring high levels of compliance and health & safety across the contract at Merville Barracks, Colchester.


To be truly successful in this role, you will be an experienced Gas and Qualified Mechanical Engineer with a technical and commercial mindset. You’ll be a practical thinker with good attention to detail and have a passion for leading a team to deliver service excellence, meeting KPI targets.

Please note, you will be required to assume on call responsibilities.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Oversee the day to day operation which includes planned and reactive maintenance and new work tasks
  • Monitor, evaluate and inspect planned and reactive maintenance tasks for quality and risk purposes
  • Ensure that corrective maintenance and reactive works are carried out within the priority timescales, reporting to the Service Delivery Manager and client as necessary
  • Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with legislation, codes of practice, manufacturer’s recommendations, HSE recommendations and meets prescribed standards in the contract
  • Work with the Helpdesk Admin team and ensure receipt of planned or reactive workloads from them, ensuring seamless service delivery
  • Assist with procuring materials via SAP in accordance with assigned DOA
  • Provide support to the Projects team in the form of writing Lifecycle Business Cases and supporting project works as agreed by the Service Delivery Manager or Project Managers

The Ideal Candidate

What’s essential:

  • Technical Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a diverse engineering and FM environment
  • Experience of working within Estate and Property Maintenance Management, or a similar type of contract
  • IOSH Qualification, or equivalent
  • Possess detailed working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, or equivalent
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to organise others
  • Analyse and provide technical advice and solutions
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Prioritise workload and working under own initiative with minimal supervision
     

Where we can be flexible:

  • Familiar in utilisation of CAFM systems would be an advantage
  • F-Gas category 1,2,3,4 would be an advantage

Package Description

Up to £34,000 per annum.
