A few things about you 

With great organisation skills and a friendly approach you'll be cooking delicious dishes for our students and staff, whilst always ensuring your preparation and kitchen areas are glistening!

To keep things ticking along, you’ll bring your knowledge of health and safety and food hygiene, your level 2 NVQ chef qualification (or equivalent) and contagious smile!

It would be great if you had experience of working in a school environment but, don’t worry if not, as we would still love to hear from you!

Please note that due to the nature of the role, you will need to hold a full driving licence

Sodexo embeds a strong Safety culture in everything we do. There will be company procedures to follow so good knowledge of HACCP, COSHH procedures and Food Hygiene Regulation is vital. 

Role Responsibility

You will be working at our Approved Premises (APs) that house residents who are Ex Offenders. National Probation Service staff members work in the APs and are responsible for the residents and their rehabilitation back into the community. Another function of the AP is to provide residents with meals at set times of the day.

Mealtimes are key to the normal daily operation of the property - Not only for resident’s health and well being but they provide a sense of routine and structure.

·You will plan, prepare and serve all meals for residents at the required time and deliver meals that are of a high standard showing real passion and care for the service you provide.

·You will ensure that all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in relation to any special dietary requirements: for example, nut, dairy or wheat allergies.

·You will assist in implementing and maintaining the service for all Hospitality related activities, production service, clear down and cleanliness and hygiene standards.

  • To report and, where possible, take action for any incidents of accident, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food, or any other irregularities.
  • To report and work alongside the Catering Manager on all aspects of the running of the kitchen.
  • To follow all rules and procedures of the Approved Premise following all safeguarding procedures.
  • To report directly to the Catering Manager for the efficient running of site in relation to training, stock and menus.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Will be able to work well to time pressure in delivering excellent, wholesome, and tasty meals.
  • Will have the ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with regard to hygiene and budgets.
  • Will have a real passion and understanding of the crucial nature of the work they deliver which would be clearly demonstrated in their work
  • Will have good interpersonal skills and ability to verbally communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff in a polite and courteous manner
  • Will have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or a background in a similar role
  • Will be reliable and have excellent timekeeping to avoid delays or service failures at site
  • Will be able to follow all safety procedures specific to site

Package Description

  • 40 hours per week 
  • £10.35 per hour + £1 per hour on site Bonus
  • 5 days in 7
