Mess Manager
Job Introduction
Sodexo have an excellent opportunity for a Mess Manager to join their busy team based in Hook, Hampshire.
The role will be responsible for running and supervising day to day activities within the Mess, this will include menu planning, collaborating with the catering team ensure accurate costings and delivering excellent service to our guests and residents.
The ideal candidate should have previous experience managing within a soft FM industry, excellent people and communications skills, both written and verbal.

Role Responsibility
- Perform and supervise the day to day activities of the Mess, to the benefit of all members and residents
- Promote and manage functions including planning, menus and costing in conjunction with the catering team
- Ensure standards of service detailed in the schedule of requirements (SOR) and quantity tables are achieved, maintained and developed
- Liaise with the PMC/RSM and mess committee to develop relationships and promote Sodexo
- Plan, organise and manage delivery of all services within the Mess operational business area
- Ensure standards of service detailed in the service level agreement, KPIs and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained and developed for assigned operational business area
- Contribute to the growth of all services in order to meet client and commercial expectations whilst maintaining strict budgetary control within operational business area in line with client and Sodexo expectations
- Embracing the principles of Collaborative Business Relationships (BS11000), in line with Sodexo’s vision and values
- Manage all aspects of performance of an assigned group of direct reports
- Continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position, including any required training courses
- Maintain excellent client/customer relationships
- Attend team briefs, huddles and meetings as required
- Attend your EPA to discuss and agree job performance, objectives and development activities
- Maintain professional work standards at all times
- Care for all company equipment and ensure that any faults are reported to management
- Act as duty manager ‘on call’ and holiday/weekend cover as directed by line manager
- Ensure the standards across the site(s) are in accordance with the Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators specified in the service contract
- Ensure the prompt provision and efficient service of all meals and catering requirements at the specified time to the standards laid down in the KPI's
- Take adequate steps to ensure the security of company and client property and monies under your control
The Ideal Candidate
- Knowledge of working in a management role within the soft FM service industry
- Leadership skills and knowledge
- People management skills including general HR skills in recruitment, training and managing employee performance including disciplinary and grievance procedures.
- Good numerical, interpersonal and communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
- Management knowledge of health & safety and food safety
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
- Able to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
- Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions
