Our UK Healthcare segment have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join our talented and hardworking Estates Hard Services team based at Queens Hospital Romford.

The focus of this role will be to organise, coordinate and motivate the Mechanical Estates Team ensuring planned preventative maintenance (PPM) statutory, Routine and Re-active work is carried out within the confines of the PFI Contract. It will be your responsibility to line manage a team of skilled craftsmen who are responsible for the day to day running of Queens Hospital; in addition you will adopt a hands-on approach to undertake day to day reactive and PPM tasks on a wide range of mechanical systems.

Role Responsibility

  • Line manage a team of skilled craftsmen approx. 7 team members
  • Coordinate the response, delegation and correct completion of all Reactive Heating, Cooling, Climate control and general plumbing works within the contractual time lines and KPI’s
  • Liaising with Client, Helpdesk, Contractors, Clinical nursing staff and heads of departments regarding work requests, information and planning
  • Check and manage stock material levels and raise orders as required
  • Arrange contractor Service visits as per PPM planner
  • Manage the Global Maximo CAFM system
  • Ensuring completion certificates for the statutory PPM’s are attached to every work order completed on Global Maximo
  • Liaison with contractors appointed on Maintenance tasks, capital projects and minor upgrade works.
  • To take the lead with subcontractors and the in-house team regarding plant or equipment
  • Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.
  • Observe all statutory and legal requirements, particularly in relation to Health & Safety at Work Act, Health Technical Memoranda and current legislation.
  • Skilled in fault finding, the ability to diagnose problems and improvements along with hands on repair of designated plant and equipment. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Completion of C+G/Btec or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, recognized mechanical apprenticeship, time served
  • Proven substantial experience within mechanical trade
  • Confident capable engineer able to assess situations
  • Skilled in the hands-on repair of all plant and equipment, having the ability to fault find, read drawings, diagnose and repair using their technical knowledge on equipment.
  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving using a logical approach
  • Confident and logical under pressure but must understand urgency and respond accordingly
  • Prepared to work a standby rota
  • Attend external and internal courses as required
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations.
  • Reporting writing skills.
  • Must be computer literate preferably with knowledge of building management systems
  • Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with good level of mathematical skills 

Package Description

£46,532.23pa + great benefits

Location: Queens Hospital, Romford

Permanent

Work Pattern – 40hrs pw Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm with flexibility +1/6 on On Call / 7-day cover rota
