Job Introduction

Sodexo Justice Services are currently recruiting for a Technical Operations Technician to be based at HMP Addiewell in West Lothian.  The IT function sits at the very heart of the operation – supporting every aspect of daily operations from CCTV and security systems to printer maintenance, from providing staff training to project managing software upgrades. 

Technical training will be provided as part of the role.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and support to customers of all services delivered by the Technical operations dept. e.g. All IT networks, CCTV and telephony systems.
  • Support/Promote the IT Services throughout the establishment
  • Active member of a small team, that has responsibility for:
  1. Desktop / Server support.
  2. Hardware imaging
  3. Backups
  4. IP Telephony
  5. Asset Management
  • Providing 1st line support for all IT functions.

Hardware support for the following (not an exhaustive list)

  1. Laptops
  2. Desktops
  3. Servers
  4. Printers
  5. Telecommunications Equipment
  6. CCTV
  7. PBX
  8. Security Equipment
  9. Audio Visual Equipment
  • Software support for the following (not an exhaustive list)
  1. Windows 10
  2. Windows Server 2008/2012
  3. Microsoft Office 2010/2013/2016 & Office 365
  4. E-mail client (Outlook)
  5. Business applications
  6. Security Systems
  • Perform daily checks on identified equipment.
  • AV equipment maintenance.
  • RJ45 Cable patching.
  • Imaging new systems.
  • Ordering IT hardware and consumables.
  • Producing/reviewing and updating documentation.
  • Ensure Health and Safety requirements are met.

Undertake any other IT duties as required that will contribute towards the effective running of the establishment.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • First-rate knowledge/familiarity with MS Office (2010, 2013, 2016 and Office 365)
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows 10
  • Previous experience in a First Line Systems support or similar IT role
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a pro-active team
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Able to obtain Enhanced Disclosure
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours as dictated by projects/incidents
  • Knowledge of ITIL

Desirable

  • Exposure to Avaya or IP phone systems.
  • Knowledge of ArcServe or other Back-Up Solutions
  • Relevant Microsoft certification.
  • Experience in similar support role.

Package Description

Salary £20K – £23K (DOE) plus excellent benefits (including free meals and parking, group discount schemes and pension)

Working Hours – 37.5

Post holders will be subjected to an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check prior to being employed.
