Hygiene – Yard Operative

Role Responsibility

  • To delegate for direct reports and line manager as required in their absence
  •  To supervise the movement of delivery vehicles ensuring that they are aligned for unloading purposes. 
  • To ensure that all paperwork is handed to goods in supervisor
  • Ensure all areas are cleaned efficiently and in a timely manner to the required standard.
  • To ensure the timely removal of waste from the factory and that the appropriate action is taken to dispose of and or recycle various types of waste.
  • Log down any frozen foil waste that is disposed of.
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely as detailed by the control of substances hazardous to health guidelines (COSHH).
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is kept clean and maintained in safe working order.
  • To ensure that appropriate empty containers are made available to all areas for the disposal of their waste.
  • Report immediately any equipment which is faulty, mark as faulty and do not use.
  • Ensure that all items that are stacked/stored in the yard are safe and secure.
  • Carry out daily FLT inspections and fill in the necessary paperwork.
  • To issue out chemicals as requested.
  • Ensure that chemical stores are kept clean and tidy and is locked at all times.
  • Inform the hygiene manager of any potential hazards on site or infringements of health and safety rules / food safety rules.
  • Attend training courses and meetings as necessary to maintain standards and assist in carrying out the job role efficiently.
  • To ensure any ongoing work issues are effectively communicated at shift handovers.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including reporting any incidences of absence promptly according to the company absence reporting procedure.
  • Comply with all company and statutory health and safety safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire, COSHH procedures. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your work place.
  • To attend to any reasonable management request.
  • Report and take any necessary action for any incidents of fire, theft, loss, damage or other accidents.
  • Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance and general cleanliness to comply with statutory and company regulations, wearing company uniform as specified.
  • To wear PPE as appropriate to the task.
  • To complete all records, check sheets and other documentation in a timely manner and submit to the hygiene manager on a weekly basis.
  • To ensure all laundry related duties required by the business are carried out by the hygiene team. 
  • Ensure vending machines are checked and stocked.
