Health and Safety Advisor

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting a Health and Safety Advisor to work on site across our Aldershot Garrison contract to provide our colleagues, key stakeholders and clients with expert advice and support in mitigating risks and guiding change, you’ll gain great satisfaction from seeing the work you do benefit the lives of others. 

You’ll play an influential role in driving change, whilst engaging and interacting with onsite teams and clients to ensure standards of service are met. To be truly successful in this role you will be a personable, creative influencer, bringing exceptional attention to detail and a high level of focus to Food Safety. You’ll hold a NEBOSH general certificate, or equivalent and be able to prioritise workload and take ownership to drive service excellence within your area, being able to challenge with humility where required.

Please note that this is a site based role therefore travel to other contract locations will be required.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Actively drive a zero harm culture within the business area supporting regional and contractual initiatives
  • Provide appropriate independent accident / incident investigation advice and establish and undertake root cause analysis
  • Facilitate the maintenance and management of Food Safety, HSE and Wellbeing through system audit / inspection and work with on-site teams to develop, implement and verify resulting actions
  • Encourage the reporting and close out of unsafe acts, behaviours and environments (Near Miss / Hazard)
  • Work closely with the Operational Account Manager to identify key risks and issues, share best practice and assist with preparation for Client meetings and queries
  • Legislative compliance, ensuring that all HSE and Food safety aspects of the business are conducted in accordance with all relevant statutory requirements and Codes of Practice
  • Compile monthly statistical data and analysis of key trends for submission to QHSE Manager
  • Work with operational teams to drive and implement corporate and contract level environmental initiatives
     

The Ideal Candidate

What’s essential

  • Previous experience of managing Food Safety and Health and Safety in a similar environment
  • Demonstrable strong Food Safety Quality Assurance experience
  • NEBOSH general certificate, or equivalent
  • Level 3 Food Safety Qualification, or equivalent or willing to work towards within the first 3 months of employment
  • Articulate and confident communicator, with the ability to develop and maintain effective and robust working relationships, communicating at all levels
  • Experience of being proactive and reactive, with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Able to perform data analysis and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Demonstrable achievement of continuous improvement in the workplace

  • Affiliation to a suitable professional chartered body
  • Responsibility for a management system operation
  • CMIOSH qualification, or equivalent
  • Internal auditor in an ISO standard (45001 would be an advantage)
