Health & Safety Advisor

Job Introduction

We are looking for two Health & Safety Advisors to join our team on a manufacturing site in Yeovil. Previous experience in and passion for Health & Safety is a must, H&S qualifications – beneficial, however we offer excellent training and professional development opportunities to take your career to the next level.

This role offers a salary up to £36,000 dependent on experience, flexible working opportunities and great development and progression opportunities.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Undertaking the development, review, delivery and evaluation of HSE training (Yeovil & Off-Site locations)
  • Undertaking risk assessment reviews or developing new assessments as directed.
  • Undertaking Safe Systems of Work reviews or developing new ones
  • Undertaking accident and near-miss investigations
  • Reviewing working methods and proposed changes / projects in terms of HSE legal requirements.
  • Provide pragmatic advice to the Client or Contract staff in relation to inquiries over the application of the SMS.
  • Assist in the course of normal duties with the development and maintenance of a comprehensive HSE management control system
  • Assist in the implementation of Health, Safety & Environment Policies, Procedures and controlled documentation
  • Assist in the implementation and future use of the HSE Electronic Management System from an ‘end user’ perspective.
  • Co-ordination of the production of HSE reports & KPIs.
  • Participate in HSE internal audits in line with the HSE audit programme and assist in the development of analysis and interpretation / presentation of findings.
  • Attend and participate in local and corporate Health and Safety meetings as required
  • Support the implementation of future standards and accreditation approvals in line with Company objectives.
  • Support the HSE Systems Manager in the practical development of new systems, processes and procedures from an end-user perspective.
  • Deliver HSE Training within their level of competence

The Ideal Candidate

  • Health & Safety Management qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above, ideally possessing Technical Membership of the Institute of Occupational Health & Safety (via the IOSH Certificate) and/or Associate Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (via IEMA Cert) and willing to work towards holding both qualifications.
  • A recognised national framework training qualification, eg, PTTLS/CTTLS/DTTLS/PGCE with experience of delivering complex HSE training
  • Knowledge of UK statutory regulations in respect of health, safety & environment.
  • Practitioner experience of any or all of the following – online safety systems & processes, manufacturing methods; factory services, construction, maintenance & facilities requirements.
  • The Post-Holder will possess a substantial experience in a manufacturing / engineering environment with responsibility providing professional business support services.
  • Interpersonal and team skills to the extent of being able interact and communicate confidently at all levels across the Company.
  • Financial sense
  • Computer literacy across company systems and software to undertake analysis and the generation of professional reports.
