Head of Strategic Sourcing & Logistics

Job Introduction

Due to business growth we are looking to recruit an experienced Head of Strategic Sourcing & Logistics to be based from site in South Wales.

This is a senior leadership role within the business. You will manage a team of Buyers, Admin, Planners and the Logistics business circa 45 people in total. You will be responsible for procurement of all raw material, consumables and packaging of Tillery Valley business (circa £20m spend - Site revenue >£30m.) Responsible for the efficient and effective planning of multi temp, ready meal production facility. Responsible for our 7day per week delivery fleet of 35 vehicles and drivers.

Role Responsibility

Category and Supply Sourcing

  • Develop a strategic sourcing strategy for the Tillery business
  • Manage autonomously the assigned categories under the scope of responsibility.
  • Establish close relationship with the Supply relationship management and Deployment teams at Regional & Global levels
  • Generate savings and increase revenues

Production Planning

  • Oversee and Manage Planning function ensuring site and group objectives are achieved
  • Establish close relationships with site Production, Dispatch and Distribution teams
  • Ensure process and inventory is aligned to business requirements
  • Identify and embed operational efficiencies and improved effectiveness

Improve profitability by optimizing agreements and alignment with global contracts 

  • Negotiate regional agreements and secure best net prices
  • Implement and monitor of KPI’s to measure progress

Set up, initiate and maintain professional relationships with the regional supplier network in order to :

  • Reinforce the image and the credibility of Sodexo
  • Identify the technological developments and innovations from the supplier base that can give the site a competitive advantage

Lead a group of Category Managers 

  • Lead and manage a team of 2-4 professionals
  • Lead and develop the team through the right training and career steps
  • Ensure the relevant succession planning is in place

Logistics

  • Lead and develop the logistics strategy for the business in line with business requirements and sales pipeline
  • Ensure compliance at all levels with relevant legislation and in line with Company Fleet requirements
  • Ensure the relevant succession planning is in place

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Extensive experience in Buying/ Category Management & Strategy
  • Extensive experience in Production Planning
  • Knowledge & understanding of Logistics & transport regulations
  • Understanding of factory environment and factory challenges
  • Experience in principles of Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability in working in a multi-cultural and matrix environment
  • Proven-track records in complex contract negotiation
  • Graduate calibre with CIPS/ISM or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Excellent external networking capabilities and presentation skills
  • Team player with excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Financial acumen and result orientated with ability to present results in a structured and professional manner
  • Strong project management skills
  • Flexible for international travel where necessary
  • Tenacious, driven and obsessive with detail
  • Experience of and ability to lead an agenda of change

Desirable

  • Fluency in English; French / Spanish a plus
