Grounds Maintenance Operative

We currently have an opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join the Grounds Team at our Clients Global Headquarters and Sports Ground facilities. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative you will be responsible for:

·Undertaking grounds maintenance, horticultural and related tasks within the designated sites to the required specifications and quality standards

·The inspection of all goal posts and pitches

·Marking out all pitches within the site, to include cricket

·Planning the maintenance and renovation of the fields and pitches

·Undertaking all grass cutting at both Sites

·Painting and maintaining all goal posts

·Edge trimming

·Undertaking the watering of plants, beds and containers on the sites

·Ditching and mulching where necessary and when required

·The collection and the removal of any waste arising from activities

·The operation/driving (providing relevant driving licence is held for more than 12 months) and conducting relevant preventive maintenance checks of machinery, plant and vehicles provided for the undertaking of ground maintenance

·To implement the principles and the practices of the Health and Safety and Assurance at work and the customer care whilst at work including reporting to your line manager any hazards, unsafe procedures or systems

·To ensure appropriate company paper work is completed daily, weekly and monthly

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Driving licence
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining sports and green keeping (cricket and football)
  • Knowledge and experience of marking out cricket and football pitches.

Package Description

 

As a grounds maintenance operative, working either alone or as part of a team, you will be assigned to a specific area or contract, to maintain the site(s) within that contract or area to the agreed specification and quality standards. However, flexibility is important to the company and you may be required to work at other units locally on reasonable notice. The company will also have the right to vary the nature of your employment where there is a business need.

  1. To undertake grounds maintenance, horticultural and related tasks within designated sites to required specifications and quality standards, as directed by your line manger. Such activities include, but are not restricted to:-

 

  • Grass cutting
  • Hedge trimming
  • Shrub and tree pruning
  • Removal of weeds and litter from beds, plant containers, pathways and grassed areas
  • Laying out and planting bedding
  • Fine turf maintenance
  • The marking out and preparation of sports pitches
  • Digging and mulching
  • The watering of plants, beds and plant containers
  • The collection and removal of waste arising from such activities
  • Gritting and snow clearance

    2. Providing relevant licences are held, the operation and/or driving of machinery, plant and vehicles provided for the undertaking of grounds maintenance, horticultural or related activities, including conducting relevant preventive maintenance checks prior to use.

    3. To assist other members of the team as required in their learning and development; particularly with regard to practical training and the giving of advice. Especially with regard to the buddy system for new employees and apprentices.

    4. To implement the principles and practices of Health and Safety and Quality Assurance at work and customer care whilst at work including reporting to your line manager any identified hazards, unsafe procedures or systems.

    5. To maintain standards as laid down by the company in your personal appearance, including uniform and PPE and standard of workmanship.

    6. To always communicate courteously with and relay information back where appropriate to your line manager, other team members, clients and the general public.

    7. To ensure company paperwork is completed daily, weekly and monthly as required.

    8. To comply with any reasonable instruction from your line manager within the agreed deadline.

    9. To conduct work on additional contracts locally as and when required.

    10. To make yourself available for all training identified by your line manager. Completion of induction training, annual refresher training and the bronze award is compulsory for all staff.
