We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Sports & Fine Turf Supervisor to join our team at the Nevill Cricket Ground. Role Responsibility

• instructions, and with correct legal training provided, adhering to all COSHH Regulations.
• Attend training courses and meetings as is necessary to maintain standards in the contract and assist in carrying  out the job role efficiently
• Provide cover in other areas in times of sickness and holidays
• Ensure all equipment is kept maintained and is in safe working order.  Report any defects to the Facilities Manager immediately
• Comply with all Sodexo Company policies procedures and client site rules and regulations
• Comply with all Company & client policies and statutory regulations relating to Health & Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your work place
• Areas to maintain include grassed areas, shrubs and borders, hard and gravelled areas, drainage ditches, woodland areas.
• During adverse weather you will be required to clear ice and snow and to keep areas free of standing water.
• The role would also involve covering other area such as cleaning inside the building

The Ideal Candidate

• Knowledge of grounds work would be preferable
• The role does involve some heavy lifting and the use of machinery.

Candidate profile:
Be able to prepare and maintain playing surfaces and outfield to ensure that they are of first-class standard.
Good understanding of all fertilisers and chemicals used in accordance with preparation of sports surfaces.
Being able to lead and organise a small team in daily and weekly ground maintenance operations.
Operating and maintaining cricket and fine turf ground equipment in accordance with standard operating and safety procedures.
Taking direction from the Contracts Manager and fulfil any reasonable request or duties required by him.

Essential requirements:
Possess a passion for cricket pitches and sports turf maintenance.
Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude and appearance.
Understand the seasonal nature of the role and the need for flexibility with regards to working long hours including evenings and weekends in accordance with matches being played.
Ability to work under pressure and to work alone when required.
Be in possession of a clean EC driving license. (Need to be over 25 but not sure if your allowed to say it)
Possess an understanding of current Health and Safety guidelines

Desirable requirements:
Ideally the candidate will have NVQ Level 2 in sports turf maintenance or equivalent, plus experience of working on a cricket or multisport site. Spraying qualifications will also ideally be held (PA1, PA2, PA6) You must enjoy working to high standards, have good communication skills plus the ability to work as part of a team or on your own initiative.
