Job Introduction

We are currently looking for a General Manager to the take overall day to day responsibility for the operational management of soft services on site at Imperial Hammersmith Hospital.

You’ll ensure that Sodexo continuously and effectively support the Hospital’s clinical needs to the agreed specified Service Level Agreement whilst participating in the development of strategy and the implementation of initiatives and goals, seeing them through to a successful conclusion.

As General Manager you’ll be Sodexo’s main representative on site and will manage the communication strategies between the business and Trust stakeholders

Role Responsibility

  • Manage the day to day operations and ensure service delivery is of a high quality and patient focused with an emphasis on standards
  • Have full P&L responsibilities for the services being managed and accountability to deliver against company budgets
  • Assess current staff professionalism and competence, arrange and manage training programmes
  • Understand building energy management system and energy conservation policies
  • Ensure that all aspects of service outputs are delivered to comply with the Operating Contract, Statutory legislation and good working practice at all times to ensure that H&S management obligations are not compromised in respect of the delivery of all FM services
  • Constantly assess the risk to the Authority for all FM provisions including hard FM
  • Oversee the design, building and construction of new retail outlets
  • Ensure the effective resourcing and managing of project works including, but not limited to, equipment upgrades and building and M&E asset replacements
  • Contribute to the development of a 12-month Unit Business Plan and supporting budget for the site, to achieve company and client objectives and priorities
  • Develop and manage efficiency programmes to reduce costs and increase productivity
  • Develop and manage a professional client retention and communication strategy, attending meetings with the Trust as required
  • Attend Trust and related meetings, constructively contribute and react to requirements
  • Plan and dovetail with the Trust’s policies and procedures and FM services requirements
  • Ensure all PFI protocols and contractual requirements are met
  • Ensure a robust performance report is produced each month

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified to ONC/HNC standard in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Building Services or Building
  • IOSH qualification
  • Experience of working with budgets and financial targets; able to manage operations against an agreed specification demonstrating strong P&L expertise, commercial awareness and core numeracy skills
  • Experience of collaborative working within a joint hard and soft FM environment
  • Proven ability to plan and achieve results in difficult situations and in limited timeframe
  • Proven experience of managing employees, addressing performance issues effectively and maximizing engagement
