Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor

Job Introduction

Are you a qualified and experienced Health & Safety professional? Do you have a substantial work experience with ISO accreditations and audits? Can you picture yourself working with a multi-national corporate technology client?

We are looking for an Environment, Health and Safety Advisor to join our team in South East of England looking after a prestigious client account of ours. You should be an enthusiastic and dynamic team player with a proven track record in a similar role.

We offer a great working environment and a great team, a salary up to £39,000 DOE and excellent development and progression opportunities. This role has no fixed place of work, however you should be located within a commutable distance of Reading.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Management of the client EHS Management System and monitor compliance to policies and procedures and provide advice and guidance to management and staff.
  • Responding to the UKI Hand’s email box for UK & Ireland
  • Management of internal and external audit and statutory inspections ensuring internal monitoring and audits are undertaken and monitor the completion of any non-conformance.
  • Ergonomics assessor for the ergonomic program for UK.
  • Liaise with Client’s Management Team and in-house contractors to ensure that they understand their areas of responsibility and manage client relationship (key contact).  Respond to any questions from management, employees or contractors relating to H&S giving appropriate advice.
  • Management of the in-house permit to work system and interact with other departments, vendors and contractors to deliver a safe working environment for all employees and others affected by their undertakings.
  • Ensure the undertaking and/or management of all areas of risk assessment, safe systems of work, incident reporting, fire management and individuals i.e. ergonomics.
  • Assist in the requirement for training of staff with specific health and safety roles such as fire officers, first aiders, radiation to ensure this is appropriate and keep records where appropriate and operate the in-house induction program for employees, vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure the maintenance of and be aware of the location of any records for inspection by any enforcing authority and where necessary meet or correspond with those enforcers and liaise with enforcing bodies where necessary.
  • Ensure incident reporting and investigations are undertaken appropriately.
  • Ensure record keeping reflects the statutory requirements.
  • Host the site safety committee.
  • Maintain OHSAS 45001 and 14001 accreditations.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • National Health and Safety Qualification
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH or working towards.
  • Excellent client/people relationship management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Willingness to learn and up-skill in relation to Health Safety and the Environment.
  • University diploma and a substantial experience in a facilities-related role
  • Ergonomic assessor
  • Must have excellent IT skills
  • OHSAS 45001 audit experience
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate others
  • Proven recent experience in Health, Safety & Risk
  • Ability to travel within the UK

Desirable:

  • University Diploma or Equivalent
  • Member of IOSH
  • Experience in a client facing role
  • ISO14001 and ISO45001 audit experience
  • Extensive experience working in a large corporate technology company
