Deputy Commander's Personal Secretary

An excellent opportunity has arisen to become a Personal Secretary to the deputy commander at Colchester Garrison, in Merville Barracks.

  • To organise, arrange and manage the Deputy Commander’s official programme; encompassing visits to Brigade units, senior visitors, both military and civilian, to Brigade HQ; office calls and meetings; overseas visits and movement to Brigade, Divisional and other information headquarters exercises.
  • To coordinate all travel and accommodation arrangements; liaison with internal and external agencies on the Deputy Commander’s programme and working life.

You'll be accountable for ensuring Deputy Commanders’ day runs smoothly, all work is completed to the highest standard and all deadlines are met in a timely manner with outstanding attention to detail and great organisational skills. You’ll be supporting in all aspects of administration for a high profile military figure.

A few things about you

It’s important to have a positive, approachable attitude and strong communication skills with the ability to demonstrate abilities to work alone, and work with confidence.

This position requires a confidence in all things admin related, so knowledge of IT is needed. Along with the ability to hold professional conversations and be able to keep calm under pressure.

Please note, that a basic DBS check is required if successful in applying for this position.

  • 37 hours per week 
  • £10.03 per hour
  • Monday - Friday
  • Mon-Thu: 09:00-17:00 / Fri: 09:00-16:30
