Corporate Tax Specialist

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting a Corporate Tax Specialist role to join our central finance team based in Salford Quays.

The role offers a very competitive salary, annual bonus and excellent benefits package with up to 33 days holiday. You will be responsible for executing the timely and accurate production (and submission) of a range of tax returns and payments, including: UK and ROI corporate tax, statutory accounts, group accounting.

You will identify improvements to the compliance process and work with third parties to automate the compilation and submission of returns as necessary. You will also be responsible for managing corporate tax queries from across the business and other operational functions, as well supporting the Head of Corporate Tax, UK&I, with on-going projects and ad-hoc queries.

Role Responsibility

  • Preparation of UK & ROI corporate tax returns for first review by the Head of Corporate Tax, statutory accounts disclosures, and group accounting reporting.
  • Work with third parties to increase automation of the compliance process and returns.
  • Liaise with other departments, such as Finance Shared Services and Financial Controllers, to resolve errors / queries in relation to the returns above.
  • Independent analysis and research into corporate tax queries raised by the business, for review and discussion with the Head of Corporate Tax/Tax Director.
  • Maintain up to date corporate tax process notes and corporate tax returns and payments calendar.
  • Work with the Head of Corporate Tax to update annual corporate tax SAO documentation and testing programme.
  • Undertake and manage systems developments and testing in relation to ad-hoc projects.
  • Responsible for running and reconciling corporate tax balance sheet accounts, for discussion and review with the Head of Corporate Tax
  • Deal with HMRC correspondence from HMRC on a timely basis, update correspondence log and action and escalate appropriately.
  • Keep up to date with tax technical developments for CPD and for assessment of changes in legislation on Sodexo’s business.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Industry experience in multi-national organisations
  • Demonstrable corporate tax experience
  • Preparation of returns
  • Excellent and up to date technical knowledge
  • Advanced Microsoft, SAP, HFM and general systems proficiency
  • Able to leverage technical knowledge (tax, accounting, plus software packages)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to deal with people at different levels throughout the UK & ROI business
  • Flexible, adaptable, proactive
  • Continuous improvement in tax compliance processes
  • Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject, 2:1 minimum
  • ICAEW qualified
  • Experience and technical knowledge of tax accounting and groups
  • Able to demonstrate practical process and system knowledge.
