Community Space and Events Manager

Job Introduction

  • To be responsible for the overall management of the community & event spaces for the Thames Valley sites 

  • Oversee all aspects of event planning and management, including internal and external events 

  • Managing all activities to ensure successful events with minimum disruption to business as usual 

  • Engage with departmental representatives to promote the use of community spaces and provide support and direction in their use 

  • Develop a programme of activity to engage site users and foster a sense of community 

  • Proactively promote the community spaces to maximise their use 

Role Responsibility

  • Manage activities in all Community Spaces, Event Spaces and Meeting Rooms across the portfolio to budget and within agreed timescales 

  • Responsible for developing standards, procedures and processes relating to delivery of this service driving standardization across all J&J sites 

  • The Manager will be expected to develop strong internal and external relationships across all areas of the business 

  • Champion best practise and act as in an advisory capacity as to how to get the most out of events 

  • Control activities taking place on site and manage timetable of events to avoid conflicting events 

  • To make business meetings a success, through successful planning and communications 

  • Develop community user group meetings 

  • Responsible for the management of all client hospitality bookings  

  • Key point of contact for our client and our service delivery team for all hospitality requests including dining, corporate events and in room meeting dining. 

  • Establish direct communication with agencies and suppliers to ensure excellent delivery of all internal and external events. 

  • Provide pre and post analysis of the effectiveness of events with recommendations to increase effectiveness 

  • To liaise closely with line manager to ensure appropriate budget controls: Submissions/ Monitoring/ amendments/ reporting. 

  • To collaborate with internal departments and external suppliers ensuring efficient forward planning of activities and that these are consistent with corporate ID, business strategy and company objectives.   

  • Managing operational and administrative functions to ensure successful events 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent customer service skills 

  • Ability to multitask and prioritise activities, often under pressure 

  • Good interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication  

  • Ability to give clear instruction and motivate teams to deliver results 

  • Self-motivated with ability to work under own initiative.  

  • Good organisational skills 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills 

  • Assertive and influential, demonstrates a strong desire to lead and achieve goals 

  • Experience of managing corporate events

  • IOSH Managing Safely 

Package Description

£30,000 - £31,000 Depending on Experience + Benefits
