Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting an organised, enthusiastic Chef Manager with excellent communication skills to support the catering operation across 3 messes (hospitality including food and beverage) at site in Colchester Essex.

As Chef Manager, you'll support all catering activity, ensuring service delivery excellence. You'll provide leadership and clear direction to the teams, ensuring they are motivated and engaged and that they understand how their contribution impacts the business.

Role Responsibility

  • To support all catering activity across the messes
  • Manage, develop and inspire the management of the existing team to ensure a high quality service is delivered, providing coaching and training when required
  • To ensure standards of service detailed in the service level agreement and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained and developed
  • To grow services in order to meet client and commercial expectations whilst maintaining strict budgetary control in line with client and Sodexo expectations
  • Continually monitor all food standards and hygiene standards and ensure they are maintained at the highest level
  • To drive catering performance through adherence to all promotional activity and marketing initiatives
  • Contribute to gross profit and improvements to budget performance as determined by segment business objectives
  • Ensure operational excellence within your area of responsibility for labour management and performance
  • Develop and maintain a positive internal and external network
  • Ensure wastage targets are met and maintained in line with set Company standards

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of managing a team to deliver service excellence
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Management knowledge of health & safety and food safety
  • Food safety qualification equivalent to CIEH level 3
  • Proficient with Microsoft office and good financial awareness
  • Personal innovation and passion for quality food
