Catering Support Manager - Food Services

Sodexo at Merville Barracks have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Support Manager to join their growing team. This role is to support the catering services we provide across our PFI contract, duties will include developing a team of junior chefs whilst offering day-to-day support to our budding teams. 

The ideal applicant will have experience working in similar environments and ideally hold a catering qualification - NVQ level 2 or above, BSC in catering or equivalent. This role is a great chance to show your flair and support our blossoming chef talent through their own development, whilst making a difference to the every day experiences of our colleagues and customers.

Role Responsibility

  • You will be responsible for all day to day catering support including stock management and service delivery.
  • To support with development of all current and future food offerings. 
  • Provide excellent customer service and lead by example to junior members of the team. 
  • Responsible for all company equipment and ensure any faults are reported to management. 
  • Provide waste reports and contribute to personal and company targets in the reduction of waste. 
  • Work collaboratively with other teams across the business including MOD staffing. 
  • Keep updated with latest Health and safety and provide support to teams to ensure these are maintained at all times.
  • To manage teams of staff including catering support, offering development and training where needed. 
  • Attending regular meetings, team huddles and appraisals

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ideal candidate for this role will have been in the catering or have worked as a chef previously, have fantastic people skills and be passionate about food!
  • Within this role is the opportunity to participate in competitions held in-house within the Sodexo family, live events and to develop junior chefs therefore someone ambitious and with drive will be paramount. 
  • Should hold a BSC Catering, City and Guilds 706/1, NVQ level 2 or above qualification or equivalent. 
  • This role would suit someone who is a leader or aspiring leader, with the ability to positively develop and train other team members and act as a role model at all times. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Numerical skills will also be required. 
  • Ability to demonstrate skills using Microsoft suite - Excel, outlook, word 
  • Hold a Food Safety qualification 
  • Must be able to work as part of a team but also be able to lead independently with initiative. 
  • Any experience working with MOD would be advantageous but not essential.

Up to £25,000 plus Benefits

Standard working hours Monday- Friday - annual leave available over Christmas and Summer Holidays!
